house insurance

people in the UK: can anyone recommend a company for house insurance (the fabric of the house, not the contents), on the basis of having actually claimed for something and been happy with how they handled the claim? (as opposed to being happy with how they deal with you when you're not claiming for anything, although that would be preferable too)

thanks in advance.

No, never having had to make a household (as opposed to contents) claim.

But this sort of thing is covered by Money Which? isn't it? The local library should have copies.

Alternatively, have a look at guardian.co.uk's archive.

We had to claim recently over a blocked drain that required excavating and replacing - I'm at work at the mo and can't remember the name of the insurers but will look it up when I get home and let you know. I think they handled it quite well.

The company we are insured with is called Frizzell - they are part of the Liverpool Victoria Insurance Company Ltd. Their address is County Gates, Bournemouth. Hope this helps.
