role model for our old age

Anyone else seen the Coldplay video with the two dancers? It came on when I was in the gym today. I shed a tear! Found it very moving. Grace, beauty, skill and strength - there is an old age to aspire to. And I couldn't have done those dance moves even when I was 18!

I wanted to know more about the dancers (it says their names in another link - Spencer and Barbara). Disappointed to discover by Googling that it's old footage from the 1980s. I wonder if there's any chance Barbara's still alive? I'd like to send fan mail. Maybe now they're famous, something will appear.

I wonder if the band picked that footage because they think like me? Or if they just thought (as the reviewers so far apparently do) it was weird and/or amusing?

I saw that video the other week - I thought it was strangely beautiful, I find myself thinking of it now whenever I hear the song on the radio.

I taped this show off the TV in 1989. It was from a show on the brand new Cable channel Liftime. We have used this tape to entertain friends for 19 years! I have searched the internet for all this time to find info about them and now they are everywhere.

Check out www.coldplay.com and they have an interview with the director of the video. She discusses how they came across Spencer and Barbara and how they put the video together.
I think I remember seeing them or at least Barbara dancing on Venice Beach around 1998.

Thanks for that. The coldplay site only works with Flash, so I'll have to try & remember to take a look at it when I'm on a computer that's got it :-)

Blundered onto your blog while trying to find out more info about this couple - unfortunately Barbara did die a few years ago. There is also a hateful clip circulating on the net of some guy named Jimmy Kimmel (happy to say I never heard of him before) who showed part of the dance on what passes for his "show" and invited the dancers as guests only to embarrass them from what I can tell. Lovely fellow, this Kimmel, and if you squint just a little it's easy to see how HE'LL look at Barbara's age. Not a pretty sight.
