yes I've been sucked into the vortex of fashionability that is LJ.... :-)
Now I'm musing on how best to arrange my "friends" list. I think what I'd like to do with it is more of an "interesting people" list. I'd like to change the name to that, but I don't think you can. So if you find yourself on my "friends" list, that probably means I have found you and/or your journal interesting f.s.v.o. interesting. But it doesn't mean I am assuming you are officially my friend, which would seem rather presumptuous. And if anyone wants to put me on their "friends" list on the same basis, then they are very welcome.
good! that's that then!

I haven't tried it myself so I can't be sure, you may need to be a paid member but I don't think you do for this.
I don't think many people think of 'friends' as your actual friends more a list of journals you want to read -- I've seen people use descriptions like 'person collection' before :)
Welcome to LiveJournal by the way.

hmm yeah that would be the way to do it, but I think I saw a thing the other day saying the system had changed recently and now you have to be a paid member to use overrides. can't remember where I saw that though.

thank you!

Date: 2002-02-17 04:30 pm (UTC)Another tip: If you reply to a specific comment rather than the main entry you get the benefit of threading and the person you're replying to can get the follow-up sent to their email address. Lots of people don't go back to old entries to check for replies and simply rely on email notification to keep track of LJ discussions.
(We're big on threaded conversations in comments -- see our other journal!)

Date: 2002-02-17 02:22 pm (UTC)I use my friends list as a collection of interesting people, and I don't necessarily add peope to my friends just cos I am on their list, altho it can be interesting to see who adds you... Some people are very selective about their friends lists, some aren't... ;)
Welcome to LJ
